ZX9R Scottoiler Install
I still hate lubing my chain and now that I commute @60 miles a day with
an 800 foot elevation change my chain is not looking good. All of the sand, slush, and wet roads
are taking a toll. Time for another Scottoiler..which I bought through
Aerostitch again (the Scottoiler Universal Kit MK7 is now $137 as of 03/2010). Let's get down to business.
P.S. Here is Scottoiler's ZX9
Install instructions for reference as well.
Supplies: Assortment of zip ties, 2 flat washers for the mount, tools needed to get to and/or create the
reservoir mounting location, black spiral wire loom (Radio Shack), wire cutters, O ring and washer to fit
rear spindle bolt.
1) The hardest and longest part of this install is answering the question
"where the hell am I going to put this thing ?". Since my bike is fully wired
under the seat and I've already reorganized things I chose the right aft of
the space under the seat. This is the easiest location for me to get to for
adjustments and fill ups.

2) Here are a few shots of the vacuum connections that power the scottoiler. I removed
all of the smog equipment on the bike so there are plenty of open vacuum spots to jack into.

3) Now for the mount of the oil nozzle on the bike. Scottoiler recommends the rear
axle bolt but I found my spindle bolt much less hassle. I had to buy an O ring and a washer from
a local hardware store to fit the spindle bolt for additional stability.

4) I just weaved the vacuum and oil hose through the frame in various places.
Here are a few shots of that.

5) That's it !!!! Make sure you don't pinch any hoses as you reinstall your
tank and you should be good to go. Have fun priming the Scottoiler and getting
it setup...remember to turn it up in the winter and down in the summer. Right
now I have it set at 4 to keep the chain clean and moist during the rainy
season but I turn it down to 2 when it's hot. Enjoy. ;)
