Port Angeles and Neah Bay area
SR113 and SR112
I love SR113, it's definitely one of my top ten best roads. If you're looking
for excellent pavement and nice high speed sweepers, this is the road for
you. You can easily hit almost all the turns over 70 and there are only 1
or 2 that can spook you if you loose your line. I have seen Leo's on this
road but they've never given me any grief and that's even while speeding by
as they go the other way. I've ridden it twice and both times the traffic
was very minimal to nonexistent to add to your fun. Unfortunately it's only
15 miles, but worth the trip out there.
SR112 on the other hand is a decent twisty road with questionable pavement
in places, but overall pretty fun. Part of the route near the Strait Of Juan
De Fuca is cut pavement, I don't know the correct terminology for it but your
tires tend to bite the cut pavement which makes your front end feel sketchy.
I got more used to the feel the second time around, but it doesn't build confidence
in your tires at all. The turns are respectable with a few 180's and double
the recommended speed was perfect. I just rode it in February with temps in
the 50's and there was some water and middle strips of dirt to make your ride
a bit dicey if overdoing it, but a lack of serious road crap like gravel and
sand make it a year round possibility. You can also take 112 east towards
Port Angeles after the 113/112 split for much more twisty fun. Take the time
to make it out there and by riding all of 112 it makes a nice loop ;)
